Legion, known to his human associates as John Geist, rode shotgun in the black SUV. The van had tinted windows to prevent anyone from seeing the masked occupants or the equipment they carried. The license plate had been stolen from another vehicle just an hour earlier.
The driver parked and pulled down his own mask.
Legion looked back and forth, surveying his human accomplices. "All right people. Stick to the plan and this should all go smoothly. Everyone know their role?" Heads nodded, and Legion opened his door. "Showtime." He grabbed his MP-5 submachine gun as he exited, releasing the safety. Four other masked armed men exited with him.
The bank robbers had parked as close as they could to the bank. That gave the bank guards outside time to grab their weapons, but not much else. Legion took them out with two well-placed three-round bursts. More gunfire shattered the bank doors, causing the occupants to duck for cover.
As they got closer, another bank guard appeared. He fired but missed. Another of the bank robbers took him out.
These rent-a-cops are no fun, Luluth thought glumly. It was very depressing. Now the only way he could have a shoot-out would be if the police showed up with unusual speed.
"Everybody on the ground! Now!" one of the gunmen yelled. This was unnecessary, of course, since everyone had gotten to the floor the second the gunfire had started. Legion rolled his eyes, irritated by Gerald's theatrics.
"Get the money out of the vault!" Gerald shouted.
"And no dye packs or anything!" Legion added. He glanced at his watch. Timing was important- he had to assume someone had already triggered a silent alarm.
